April 21, 2011, For Immediate Release: Regional Boston Bike Share System, Hubway, Scheduled to Hit the Streets in 2011. Alta Bicycle Share Selected to Plan, Launch, and Manage the New System

 Boston, MA – Today, surrounded by cycling advocates as well as city and state officials, Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino signed a contract with Alta Bicycle Share, the only company solely focused on urban bike share operations, to plan, launch, and manage the new Metro-Boston region bike sharing system, dubbed Hubway.  The City of Boston will introduce Hubway with over 600 bicycles at 61 stations spread across the entire city for a July launch.  Eventually, the system will be a regional system, including other communities such as Cambridge, Somerville and Brookline.
